"You never know what's going to happen next.
Unknown to most people, there's a realm of high school oriented choruses available for exceptional singers, and Kayla, today's March fashion featured individual with a hint of green for the recently passed St. Patrick's day, was part of the New Jersey Women's All State Choir where only the cream of the crop are accepted. Kayla immersed herself in an environment where everybody shared the same level of intense love for their art. For three days, she sang with young ladies who couldn't stop singing or talking about their united passion, but as much as it was fun, All State was equally as challenging. Within a weekend, Kayla was required to memorize an entire concert, allowing her to learn new vocal techniques and pushing her to the limit.
We run life one day at a time, one race at time, one second at a time. In track, a fraction of a second determines winners and losers, but today's March fashion featured individual, Charlie, has a countless amount of victories. Growing up, Charlie knew he was fast, but it wasn't until he joined track that he realized just how fast. In his first year, he had already broken the school record in the 400 meter. This was the beginning of a prosperous track career that keeps getting ever more impressive with each meet. Yet, after state titles and some of the quickest times, today's runner, who's rocking some awesome street fashion, comments that there's always room to improve, even if its just by a hair.
Winter's made a comeback as we enter into mid-March. Yet, no matter the season or weather, it's always a good time to give back to our communities. Katie, today's source of late winter fashion inspiration, talks about a time in the beginning of the season when she had the opportunity to make the day of a few little kids who've lived through tough experiences growing up. All the way back before Christmas, Katie, along with her friends in their school's civic leadership program, were able to "adopt" families from the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation and give the children, Meghan and David, gifts they'll never forget.
When we first step onto the field, sometimes we're making a life long commitment. Kacey, who is today's February fashion featured individual, began her soccer career right after she could take her first steps. Since then, she hasn't quit playing and has been participating on high school and league teams. Next year, Kacey will be playing Division One soccer in college. The sport has been a huge part of her life, and she's definitely had to make a lot of sacrifices for her schedule. Yet, it's all paid off in the end. It's all about pushing yourself to the limit and striving to be the best; however, at the core, any sport should first be fun. We wouldn't do it if we didn't first love it, and this is what Kacey loves to do.
If you have a dream, you should follow it. If you have a goal, you should keep trying to meet it. That's the mentality of Brian, a young artist in the making and today's February fashion featured individual. Brian began his roots in music when he was 8 and sang in a nearby mall's karaoke night where he won tickets to Six Flags for his performance. A few years later, he joined his middle school choir where he received a solo in his very first year. It set him up to conquer his high school's performing realm, and Brian began his freshmen year in the arts department's vocal academy. He was a bit nervous in a new environment but the confidence he soon gained set him up for an even greater pursuit of music.
People have passions. It can be math, writing, science, or in the case of Julia, today's fashion featured individual, it can be art. We've previously explored her love of this creative area but she has given an even further and in depth look as to what art means to her and how art can encompass more than we think. Julia's passion has built her up in ways that a regular education could not, and art has given her a medium in which to strength other areas of her life. Importantly, through her expressive courses, Julia has learned about one of the greatest tools to improvement: criticism. There's no more being complacent.
